Windows Icon Size

The icons and text were overlapping, see below. Using a 4k screen, I tried the usual things, updating the graphics card driver, changing the screen resolution and text size to see if that made a difference…


 Nothing worked, until I noticed he had the same problem on his desktop icons (but the user didn’t complain about that…)


 The problem was with the icon spacing on Windows, it was set up incorrectly.

 I changed the spacing via Registry, instructions on how I did it (I used method #3):

 The values he had were -825, in case you’re wondering.

 Then restarted the computer and that fixed it.
