Transferring an IronCAD Named User (NU) License to Another Machine

This article provides step-by-step instructions for transferring an IronCAD Named User (NU) License from one machine to another using the IronCAD License Management Tool.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure you have administrative access to both the source and destination machines.

  • Have the IronCAD serial number and codeword available for activation on the new machine.

Step 1: Deactivate the License on the Current Machine

  1. Open the License Management Tool:

    • Navigate to Start > All Programs > IronCAD [Version Number] > License Management Tool.

  2. Remove the License:

    • In the License Management Tool, select the Remove License command.

    • Click Yes to confirm the export of the licenses.

  3. Save the Export File:

    • Provide a File Name and choose a location to save the export file.

    • Click Save.

  4. Send the Export Code:

    • Choose Yes to send the export code to IronCAD via the internet, or No to manually send the export code to Support@ironcad.com via email.

    • If sent via the internet, wait for the export process to complete. A confirmation dialog will appear.

  5. Close the Tool:

    • Click OK to close the confirmation dialog.

    • Click Close to exit the License Management Tool.

    • The IronCAD NU License is now removed from this machine, and IronCAD will no longer run on it.

Step 2: Activate the License on the New Machine

  1. Open the License Management Tool:

    • On the destination machine, navigate to Start > All Programs > IronCAD [Version Number] > License Management Tool.

  2. Activate the License:

    • Select the Activate a Software License radio button and click Next.

    • Follow the wizard instructions, entering the serial number and codeword for the IronCAD NU License.

  3. Complete the Activation:

    • Follow the prompts to complete the activation process.

    • Once finished, click Close to exit the License Management Tool.

  4. Start IronCAD:

    • Launch IronCAD to verify that the license is active on the new machine.

Notes

  • Ensure a stable internet connection if sending the export code via the internet.
